About the Position: As an Operations Readiness Specialist, you will establish controls over readiness reporting activities and direct command actions on all regular and special unit readiness reports. You will support Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS), Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), and HQDA readiness goals and objectives. This position is located at the G33 Operations and Readiness Directorate, Readiness Reporting Branch in Fort Liberty, North Carolina.
Duties
Analyzes Defense Readiness Reporting System data from 20 major subordinate commands (MSCs) and over 4000 Active, U.S. Army Reserve, and Army National Guard units Army-wide.
Identifies problem areas, make commendations, and implement corrective actions as quickly as possible in support of FORSCOM readiness.
Oversees Unit Status Reports (USR) for Active and Reserve units in the Defense Readiness Reporting System ensuring they meet Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) and HQDA regulatory requirements and FORSCOM guidance.
Evaluates policies and initiatives and determines impact on unit readiness and recommends changes to policies that adversely affect readiness.
Coordinates unit status readiness forum briefings for the Commanding General and FORSCOM G-staff principals.
Works closely with Readiness Systems Team ensuring parameters for data required remains consistent with requirements for information analysis.
Serves as primary FORSCOM point of contact for the quarterly deficiency memorandum input to the Army Strategic Readiness Assessment (ASRA).
Develops new methods and concepts for assessing readiness and capability of units to satisfy expanding requirements from supported ASCCs, COCOMs, HQDA, OSD, and JCS.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service which includes reviewing and validating Unit Status Reports, analyzing and synthesizing data; preparing staff products for General Officer review/signature AND applying knowledge of pertinent laws, DOD/Army regulations, directives, and instructions and polices concerning operations, mobilization, and readiness programs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
Applicants must meet all eligibility requirements and minimum qualification requirements prescribed by OPM within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
