You will serve as a LEAD FIREFIGHTER (Basic Life Support) in the S-4 Department, Structural Fire Division (SFD) of MCAS BEAUFORT SC.
Duties
You will respond to hazardous materials emergencies as a member of a hazardous materials response team serving in the various roles required of the operation from first responder to technician to incident commander.
You will prepare technical reports on hazardous conditions, and make recommendations for corrective action.
You will provide group direction to a group of firefighters, and plan and schedule assignments in a manner consistent with overall plans set forth by management.
You will assign work and ensure day-to-day tasks are carried out, and make available written instructions and guidelines, reference materials, and supplies.
You will provide on-the-job training in accordance with established practices.
You will direct the assigned engine or aerial company in responding to fire emergencies, emergency medical calls, hazardous materials incidents, confined space rescue emergencies, high angle rescue, water rescue and other emergencies.

- This is a bargaining unit position.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final SECRET security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- This position is considered Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
- This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
- This position requires rotating shift work.

Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-07) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Providing leadership for day to day emergency and non-emergency responsibilities and duties; providing training regarding fire prevention or emergency procedures; and evaluating subordinate fire fighter performance.

*You must be certified as a HAZARDOUS MATERIAL TECHNICIAN by the Department of Defense (DoD), International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) or ProBoard.
*You must possess a current State or National Registry Emergency Medical Technician-Basic Life Support (NREMT-B) certification.
*You must possess a current certificate in ICS -100 Introduction to the Incident Command System (Required by Homeland Security and DODI).
*You must possess a current certificate in ICS -200 Basic incident Command System for Initial Response (Required by Homeland Security and DODI).
*You must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the following IFSAC certifications of ICS-300/400 during the first year of employment in order to act in the absence of a Supervisor.
