About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the US Army Special Operations Command, DCS, Army Compartmented Element (ACE) DCS G-3X, Fort Liberty, North Carolina.

Duties

Provides oversight, advice, assistance, and direct support to the USASOC staff and subordinate, supported, and supporting organizations, concerning specialized or experimental cyber, special operations, and intelligence policies and procedures. Principal assistant to the Director, Sensitive Activities Division and the Deputy Commanding General for designated Sensitive Activities, specialized intelligence, special operations, and cyber programs and their related processes and functions. Conducts analysis of increasingly complex and interconnected systems involving intelligence, special operations, and cyber, then develops tailored solutions to those challenges for USASOC subordinate, supported, and supporting organizations. Functions as the resident expert for USASOC, USSOCOM, DA, and DOD for unique applications of designated specialized intelligence, special operations, and cyber programs. Serves as an Intelligence Specialist with primary responsibility for the development, execution, and oversight of a highly complex and specialized program providing support for intelligence programs. Provides technical guidance and expertise to higher headquarters’, subordinate, supported, and supporting organizations.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
• In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
• Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET security clearance with eligibility for Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).
• Employee may be required to undergo polygraph and urinalysis testing.
• Employee must possess or be able to obtain a valid state driver's license.
• TDY travel is required 25% or less of the time.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GG/GS-13). Progressively responsible experience is that which has included intelligence-related research, analysis, collections and /or operations. This experience should have included intelligence analysis and/or production, intelligence collection and/or operations, counterintelligence, or threat support directly related to the position to be filled. This experience should demonstrate: Knowledge of intelligence processes, cycle and organizations; Knowledge of and/or ability to use research tools such as library holdings, photographs, statistics, graphics and maps; Knowledge of the systems, procedures and methods of analyzing, compiling, reporting and disseminating intelligence data; and/or Knowledge of organization(s) for and methods of collecting and analyzing intelligence data. In the event of severe weather conditions or other emergency type situations (natural/man-made disaster) the incumbent is required to report to work/remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
