The primary purpose of this position is to to serve as a Physical Security Specialist within the Headquarters Air Force Office of Special Investigations (AFOSI), Information Protection Office. (Continued in Marketing Message)
Duties
Incumbent serves as a Physical Security Specialist (e.g., Physical, Industrial & Information Security)
Provides oversight and direction for assigned Security Program(s) in accordance with applicable DNI, USDI,
DoD, USAF and NSIPOM directives
Evaluates security programs and initiates processes to address requirements

- Duties of this position are essential to the accomplishment of wartime/contingency operations

- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret, Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) Security Clearance
- This position is designated Special Sensitive and requires eligibility for access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), other intelligence-related Special Sensitive information-
- or involvement in Top Secret Special Access Programs (SAP) to fully perform the duties and responsibilities of the position. A non-disclosure agreement must be signed
- This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use
- This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Testing Program
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-12, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes in-depth knowledge of a major area of security specialization with demonstrated mastery of security administration programs; Extensive knowledge of performing key decision-making and policy developing responsibilities; ability to plan, organize and direct studies to develop long range studies and forecasts; Directs and integrates SCI security programs throughout the command which are of nationwide scope
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-12 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-13 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Comprehensive knowledge of security concepts, principles, and practices to plan and implement security procedures; and to review, analyze, and resolve difficult and complex problems for a multi-functional security program (i.e., physical, industrial and information security) within the organization.
2. Advanced knowledge of physical security facility requirements for secure classified facilities. Ability to interact with personnel at all levels of command in all kinds of situations, to include processing very sensitive information about personnel, handling alarm activation's, interfacing with civilian, federal, and military police forces, and keeping calm in emergency situations.
3. Advanced knowledge of SCI and SAP information, industrial, and information security concepts, principles and practices to plan and implement security programs in these areas as well as USAF research and technology protection procedures.
4. Practical knowledge of DoD, DIA, DNI, USDI, NISPOM and Air Force missions, functions, goals, and objectives.
5. Demonstrate ability to communicate security information to various audiences, to include line staff and management.
6. Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission. Ability to effectively plan, assess, monitor and use various computer programs with diverse applications.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
