The VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System is recruiting for a Medical Administration Officer. The Medical Administration Officer will function in Patient Care Administration Service. The incumbent is responsible for medical administrative management with Patient Care Administrative Service and, as Chief, Ambulatory Care and Processing, provides day to day management and oversight at Wade Park.
Duties
The Medical Administration Officer duties include, but are not limited to:
Administers management of day to day operations in ambulatory care & processing (AC&P) section, which is a large and complex administrative section.
Oversees all budgetary components of AC&P including contracts, overtime, equipment, personnel and supplies.
Manages human resource allocation throughout AC&P to provide sufficient coverage of all essential functions.
Develops and manages procedures and policies support AC&P daily operations.
Develops both short and long-term strategies for enhancing and adapting AC&P.
Responsible for administrating numerous programs including eligibility & enrollment, decedent affairs, outpatient scheduling, emergency department and administrators on duty.
Develops and utilizing quality and productivity standards to ensure optimal care is being provided.
Manages all employee & labor relations issues within AC&P.
Work Schedule: 8:00am - 4:30pm Monday through Friday

Qualifications
In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the following requirements within 15 calendar days of the closing date listed on the announcement:
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-13 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-12. The grade may have been in any occupation but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.

You may qualify based on your experience described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-12 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: planning, developing, and carrying out complex objectives involving inter-facility healthcare delivery programs; knowledge of health care system management principles; interfacing with individuals at all levels of an organization; writing, preparing, and presenting documents and reports for senior leadership; applying analytical skills, practices, methods and techniques to implement solutions to a variety of issues; acquiring and maintaining a working knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, policies, standards or procedures; and planning and directing the activities of subordinates and managing training and support needs to assure an appropriate work environment. Knowledge of the principles and practices of budget administration and analysis; including preparing, justifying, reporting on, and executing the budget, and the relationships among program, budget, accounting, and reporting systems.

Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary, although some slight physical effort may be required.
