About the Position: This position is located with the United States Army Central G32, Personnel Recovery Section, Shaw Air Force Base (AFB), South Carolina. TERM Appointment: This position is a TERM Not to Exceed 2 years position. It is time-limited and may be extended up to a maximum of eight years. This position may be made permanent without further competition (see additional information for more details.)

Duties

Independently coordinates, plans, and designs exercises to train and educate DoD personnel on evasion and survival techniques in support of USARCENT operations. Deploys worldwide in support of Theater Support Teams to assist in the training, joint planning, and contingency support for Personnel Recovery (PR) operations. Manages the Recovery Coordination Center (RCC) files and folders required to support the Personnel Recovery Coordination Center (PRCC) and prepares any briefings necessary to support planning. Coordinates and ensures dissemination of operation-specific isolated personnel guidance, theater risk-of-isolation preparation, evasion aids, and survival, evasion, resistance, escape (SERE)-related intelligence. Reviews and evaluates the written guidelines for theater clearance program to ensure Personnel Recovery (PR) guidance is included in theater clearance procedures. Represents United States Army Central at subject matter conferences and training events.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent to be able to obtain and maintain a Tier 5 Top Secret clearance.
  • This is a designated drug testing position.
  • This position is Mission and Emergency Essential (see additional information for definition).
  • This position requires that you pass a medical examination and receive required immunizations for the overseas/deployed location.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain certifications as noted below within 18 months: (1) The Joint Personnel Recovery Agency PR-102;
  • (2) Fundamentals of Personnel Recovery of JPRAAPR 296 Reintegration Team Responsibilities; and (3) PR297 Joint Personnel Recovery De-briefer, or JPRA PR397 Joint Personnel Recovery Advanced De-Briefer Course.
  • Term employment is subject to a one-year trial period. Employees serving a trial period can be removed with limited appeal rights.
  • This position is obligated to the previous incumbent who has statutory return rights back to this position.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) coordinating, planning, and designing organizational exercises; 2) training and educating personnel on evasion and survival techniques; and 3) preparing reports, messages, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and correspondence relating to personnel recovery. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
