About the Position: This position is located with the U.S. Army Sustainment Command, 404th Army Field Support Brigade, Army Field Support Battalion, Operations Division, Deployment and Readiness Branch, in Goose Creek, South Carolina. This position will be filled as a term appointment NTE 13 months.

Duties

Supervises and directs the Logistics Integration Branch (LIB) personnel consisting of Logistics Management Specialists and management support personnel to assure optimum performance of all assigned organizational and logistical support functions. Conducts planning sessions to lead the LIB staff to identify Army Prepositioned Stocks – Afloat (APS-3) and reimbursable mission workload requirements. Determines equipment needs, identifies facility requirements, and provides input to local plans and procedures. Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjusts short term priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work. Assigns work to subordinates based on priorities, the difficulty of the work to be performed, and the capabilities of employees. Reviews work methods and procedures for opportunities to improve efficiency or effectiveness and has responsibility for finding ways to eliminate significant bottlenecks and barriers to production. Serves as principal point of contact on all APS-3 force modernization, production, equipment modifications, Class (ammunition) and requirements taskings assigned to the LIB for action/execution.

Requirements

  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • In accordance with AR 690-11, this position has been designated as "Key" and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization as doing so would seriously impair the capability of the organization to function effectively.
  • The incumbent must be exempted from recall to active duty and will receive training to ensure mission accomplishment of sustaining base operations during mobilization.
  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential".
  • In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations (natural or man-made disaster) the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • This is an obligated position. An obligated position is one to which an employee has statutory restoration rights or entitlement based on active military service, recovery from a compensable injury, or return rights based on an overseas tour.
  • You will be asked to sign an agreement acknowledging that you are aware of the obligation and willing to be displaced under reduction in force procedures upon the return of the former incumbent.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
  • Term employment is subject to a one year trial period.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
