About the Position: This position is located with the U.S. Army Sustainment Command, 404th Army Field Support Brigade, Army Field Support Battalion, in Goose Creek, South Carolina.

Duties

Manage, supervise, and coordinate logistical activities as applicable for a complex installation. Oversee a workforce comprised of both Department of the Army civilians and contractor personnel performing various logistical functions. Execute administrative and personnel management responsibilities related to the accomplishment of the mission. Implement best business practices/processes in order to execute continuous improvement. Review requirements for logistical support and brief other directors, committees, Garrison Commander/Senior Mission Commander, Brigade Commander, and higher-level senior leadership on the impact to customers. Attend formal/informal conferences with members of directorates and special staff on matters involving policy and planning for current or projected operations. Direct the formulation and management of the operating budget based upon knowledge of operating programs, statement of work, contract requirements, programmed expenditures, operating costs, etc. Develop and recommend to the Garrison Commander/Senior Mission Commander the establishment of local procedures to govern logistical operations and management of resources. Understand and communicate agency policies and priorities throughout the organization. Provide supervision, technical guidance, and direction to chiefs of logistics functional areas to complete their assigned tasks.

Requirements

  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position requires pre-employment financial disclosure and annually thereafter in accordance with DoD Directive 5500-7-R.
  • In accordance with AR 690-11, this position has been designated as "Key" and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization as doing so would seriously impair the capability of the organization to function effectively.
  • The incumbent must be exempted from recall to active duty and will receive training to ensure mission accomplishment of sustaining base operations during mobilization.
  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential".
  • In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations (natural or man-made disaster) the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
