About the Position: Supervises and directs Maintenance Readiness Branch personnel consisting of Logistics Management Specialists, Combat Automotive Inspectors, and management support personnel to assure optimum performance of all assigned organizational and logistical support functions.
Duties
Serves as the Chief, Maintenance Readiness Branch, Operations Division, at the Army Field Support Battalion Charleston responsible for overseeing all aspects of logistics support to the Army Prepositioned Stocks.
Supervise and direct Maintenance Readiness Branch to assure optimum performance of all assigned organizational and logistical support functions.
Serves as principal point of contact on all logistics support tasks assigned to the Maintenance Readiness Branch for action/execution; coordinates, monitors, and evaluates the efforts of personnel assigned to the branch.
Provide leadership in developing and improving processes and/or procedures.
Work independently and responsively to solve problems and/or work issues to inform the Support Operations Officer of steps taken to resolve.
Ensures that logistic support policy requirements are fully coordinated and effectively implemented to attain desired goals.
Evaluate the contractors and other government agency performance to verify the adequacy, effectiveness, and compliance of its logistics operations to requirements.
Represent the organization at conferences, working sessions, and meetings which are attended by representatives from ASC, the 404th AFSB, other services, or foreign countries.
Utilize broad functional and administrative expertise and communication skills to inform the Support Operations Officer, and, as required, the Command Group and other US ASC, 404th AFSB, AFSBn-CHS offices, of relevant issues/problems.
Prepare and issues instructions, procedures, and special instructions on new developments.
Interview applicants referred and made selections for appointments, promotions, etc.
Provide or makes provisions for development and training, consulting with specialists on training needs for development and training problems related to the organization.
Evaluates the performance of subordinates.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Position requires incumbent to obtain and maintain a SECRET Security Clearance.
- Position is designated as Emergency Essential (EE) to support the Command’s mobilization and wartime mission during periods of increasing tension and mobilization.
- This position is designated as a Key Position to ensure continuity in mission and cannot be vacated during war, national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the capability of the organization.
- This position requires temporary duty (TDY) travel up to 25% of the time.
- This position requires a one year Supervisory/Managerial probationary period.
- This is an Acquisition, Logistics, and Technology Workforce position. Selectee must meet position requirements for Life Cycle Logistics-Advanced Certification within 48 months of entrance on duty.

The definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/ level position in the federal service (GS-12).
