About the Position: Serve as a senior IT Specialist (SYSADMIN) for the Center of Army Analysis within the Resources Division, Fort Belvoir, VA. The primary duties of this position includes assessing, planning, and executing the current and future Information Technology needs of the Agency to maintain continuity of operations and facilitate the Agency's day-to-day analysis and modeling and simulation support to the Army, its headquarters and subordinate commands.
Duties
Participate in technical solutions design to implement IT systems and data model designs that meet cross-organizational needs, including data sharing, data protection, and cyber security.
As IT technical expert, remain current on emerging software and IT infrastructure capabilities including cloud computing, able to engage with technical peers, conference audiences, and senior leaders.
Monitor system applications and audit logs for functionality and efficiency, implement and test solutions, and ensure documentation is updated for configuration management of solutions.
Assist users in system application operations, interpret results, identify and troubleshoot issues, and resolve user problems.
Resolve integration issues from implementing new capabilities into current IT infrastructures, including directing tests of programs for accuracy with simulated production runs, system debugging, and outcome analysis.
Use technical expertise and experience overseeing IT contract execution to develop IT strategic plans consistent with mission requirements and IT project resources.
Advise senior leaders on the development, management, operational direction, and risks of IT programs.
Advise customers by translating functional requirements into proposed IT technical solutions, including IT requirements determination, documentation, and justification.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be certified within six months of employment in Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II, including Security+ and Compute Environment.
- Required to complete a Form SF 312, Classified Information Nondisclosure Agreement (NDA).
- This position requires pre-employment financial disclosure and annually thereafter in accordance with DoD Directive 5500-7-R.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement up to 10% of the time.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes implementing technical systems and data model designs and cyber protection; operating, troubleshooting, maintaining, and securing IT software and infrastructure; translating user functional needs to IT technical specification; and experience in technical planning and contract management to be applied to large, critical and complex IT projects.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).
Basic Requirement: Specialized Experience includes, or was supplemented by, information technology related experience (paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training, as appropriate) which demonstrates each of the four competencies:

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13).
