This position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Center for Clinical Standards and Quality,Clinical Standards Group (CSG) .
As a SUPV HEALTH INSURANCE SPECIALIST, GS-0107-15, you will serve as first level supervisor, leading a staff with overall responsibility for leading the development of Medicare and Medicaid quality standards.
Duties
Direct projects teams to ensure project management, quality management, performance, risk/issue management are integrated within the program and closely followed.
Oversee technically complex projects and initiatives designed to address HHS and CMS Strategic Plan goals and objectives related to the work of the Division.
Serve as a technical expert and resource to CMS leadership, as well as other internal and external stakeholders, on issues related to the Medicare and Medicaid quality health and safety standards for providers that are under division’s purview.
Coordinate all facets of the Division’s work by mobilizing a team of multi-disciplinary professionals, including nursing and other clinical professionals, along with health policy, regulations development and economic impact specialists
Resolves emerging complex issues, advising leadership of potential and emerging problem areas, including the formulation of recommendations for appropriate program responses

In order to qualify for the GS-15 , you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include: (1) Supervising or leading the development and/or maintenance of healthcare quality programs, policies, or regulations; (2) Effectively communicating healthcare quality policies, programs, or regulations with stakeholders, public groups, or private sector groups; and (3) supervising or leading work performed by subordinate administrative or professional staff.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Time-in-Grade: To be eligible, current Federal employees must have served at least 52 weeks (one year) at the next lower grade level from the position/grade level(s) to which they are applying.
