About the Position: This position is located within the Medical Readiness Command (MRC) West, Office of the Assistant Chief of Staff, G-3, Fort Sam Houston, Texas. The primary purpose of this position is to perform duties as a Supervisory Operations, Training, and Readiness Specialist in the management of day-to-day medical plans and operations for the US Army Medical Command (USAMEDCOM).
Duties
Principle advisor to the Medical Readiness Command in the management of day-to-day medical plans, operations, training and readiness.
Develop plans supporting current and emergency operations; mobilization, force readiness; contingency operations; Future Operations; Training and Readiness.
Provide specialized operational support and accountability for planning, coordination, supervision, and integration of policy development.
Perform supervisory personnel management responsibilities to include planning and assigning work, providing technical guidance, evaluating work performance, and counseling and advising employees.
Brief Commanders, staff, and other appropriate personnel on contingency operation plans.
Coordinate with civil authorities on actions concerning requests for military assistance during domestic emergencies, civil disturbances, disaster relief, mobilization and deployments.
Facilitate analysis of organizational capabilities, mobilizations, contingency operations, and crisis management requirements.
Write policy guidance for manning, training, and maintaining teams.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a Tier 3, Secret security clearance.
- Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
- One year Supervisory probation period maybe required.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) researching operational regulations to develop emergency plans, programs and policies, 2) conducting comprehensive analysis of administrative systems and processes to coordinate operational plans, 3) executing medical readiness operations based on established regulations, protocols, and policies and 4) providing recommendations on training program systems and processes to improve overall mission success. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
