This position serves as the Structural/Mechanical Supervisory Maintenance Mechanic and is assigned to the Facility Management Service, VA Loma Linda Healthcare System, Veterans Health Administration, US Department of Veterans Affairs.
Duties
Duties include but are not limited to:
Supervise subordinates involved in the maintenance, repair, or construction of a variety of structures and surfaces of concrete, plasters, and stucco
Supervise responsibility over the activities of all trades within the structural unit
Supervise subordinates involved in the maintenance, repair, or construction of a variety of structures and surfaces
Set the example for subordinate employees to encourage participation in the achievement of management objectives and goals
Determine the number and types of workers required to complete a specific project
Plan current and future work schedules, budget requests, staffing needs, estimates, and recommends as to scheduling station level work projects
Promote effective work operations by assignment and explanation of work requirements, methods, and procedures
Maintain, repair, or construct a variety of structures and surfaces of concrete, plasters, and stucco
Construct, alter, repair, or modify items and structures such as metal framework, doors, windows, floors, and fine furniture, and installation or removal of prefabricated articles such as cabinets and bookcases
Install corner-bead metal lath, ceramic, mosaic, and quarry tiles as well as reinforcing steel such as fabric wire and rebar
Work Schedule: 7:00 am - 3:30 pm, Monday - Friday

Evidence which demonstrates you possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of this position must be supported by detailed descriptions of such on your resume. Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: The incumbent must be physically able to lift and handle heavy objects while assembling, repairing and installing various electrical/mechanical apparatus related to the trade. He/she is also required to push, pull, reach, walk, stand, crawl, kneel, bend and to work from ladders and scaffolds over and around equipment for extended periods of time.
