Duties
Prepare a variety of documents, i.e., newsletters, brochures, flyers, reports, briefings and manuals.
Determine correct format, arrangement and spacing within documents.
Review and edit information to ensure correct grammar, punctuation and spelling.
Receive and file correspondence and publications, operating instructions, bulletins and notices.
Maintain and manage a document library (hard copy or electronic file) in accordance with Record Management regulations and procedures.
Utilize various office automation software packages including word processing, briefing charts, spreadsheets and databases, e.g. MS Word, Excel, and Power Point.
Compile statistical data, verifies computations, arranges data in proper format and prepares descriptive reports.
Receive telephone calls, greets visitors and ascertains the nature of the calls or visits.
Order office supplies using a Government Purchase Card (GPC).
Requirements

- Tour of Duty: 1st shift, Set scheduled, 7:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday

- Appointment is subject to the completion of a favorable suitability or fitness determination, where reciprocity cannot be applied; unfavorably adjudicated background checks will be grounds for removal.

Qualifications
To qualify for a Administrative Assistant (OA) your resume and supporting documentation must support:
A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-06 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes:
Identify correct guidelines and processes for file and records systems management.
Manage a suspense tracking system and ensures deadlines are met.
Responsible for maintenance of office equipment (computers, copy and fax machines).
B. Typing Proficiency Requirement: Must be able to type at least 40 words per minute.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
