You will serve as a Supervisory Data Technician in the Document Control Section (Code 720.1) of the Weight Handling Equipment (WHE) Quality Assurance, Inspection, Test, and Training Branch of Code 720 Crane Maintenance Department at PSNS and IMF.

Duties

You will plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, set and adjusts short-term priorities, and prepare schedules for completion of work. You will assign work to subordinates based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty and requirements of assignments, and the capabilities of employees. You will give advice, counsel, or instruction to employees on both work and administrative matters. You will interview candidates for positions in the unit; recommend appointment, promotion, or reassignment to such positions. You will provide guidance for the control, maintenance and distribution of technical work documents, ensuring that technical data management policies are accurately followed. You will respond to requests for information such as status of reports, suspense dates for matters requiring compliance of responses and similar information readily available from files. You will assemble work packages for upcoming crane service work and close completed work documents in electronic databases. You will input data into programs such as Word, Excel, Access, Outlook and SharePoint and use equipment such as computers, scanners, copiers and plotters.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes.
  • Work may be performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
  • You will be required to lift/carry up to 20 pounds in weight.
  • You will be required to stand, stoop, bend, and climb stairs.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-06) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector controlling, storing, or distributing technical data relating to Weight Handling Equipment.
