Duties
You must possess good decision-making ability and be able to apply those decisions in accordance with requirements, standard operating procedures, and protocols.
You will operate computerized alarm monitoring systems or applications to include Detection Systems/Automated Access Control Systems, CCTV and Communications Systems based on training provided and using available procedures and desk guides.
You will operate communication equipment including multi-channel radio consoles, portable radios, and telephone equipment.
You will monitor radio traffic relative to PSNS and IMF areas throughout Navy Region Northwest and assess the information and makes a determination as to which additional notifications need to be made based on written procedures and guidelines.
You will maintain official records; legible penmanship is required in documenting information in daily activity communication's logs.
You will provide clear and concise verbal and written communications.
You will implement physical and information security measures for the protection of classified and sensitive unclassified information based on Department of Navy, Department of Energy, and NAVSEA requirements.
You will assist PSNS management implement fuel security and physical security programs based on, policies, rules, regulations, and procedures.
You will develop correspondences, reports, and briefings in draft, or final form from rough drafts with emphasis on punctuation, capitalization, spelling, grammar, style, and format.
Requirements

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
- You may be required to visit naval vessels and contractor facilities (protective clothing such safety glasses, hard hat and safety shoes will be required while within industrial areas).
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
Qualifications
FOR GS-06: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: receiving non-emergency situation notices by monitoringIntrusion Detection Systems (IDS), CCTV, Radio, or Automated Access Control Systems (AACS) to provide clear and concise assessment and information to responders.
FOR GS-05: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: providing assistance monitoring Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), Radio, CCTV and communication equipment in support of a physical security program.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
Education
In lieu of general/specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
FOR GS-05: Successful completion of four years above high school.
FOR GS-06: One full year of graduate level education that is directly related to the position being filled.
