About the Position: Serves as Director, Human Performance and Wellness (HP&W) Directorate for the Joint Activities located at Fort Liberty, North Carolina.

Duties

Responsible for recruiting, professional development, and transition programs (life cycle programs) command wide for a geographically dispersed command with a global formation. Establish relationships with DoD, research labs, universities, and other partnering organizations to facilitate research and lessons learned. Oversee the development and execution of the fiscal year spend plan, ensuring appropriate allocation across all levels of the enterprise. Serves as the Director of a three star sub-unified and component command Human Performance and Wellness Program. Supervise family programs human performance and life cycle Military and Civilian employees and provides oversight of the contracted workforce. Leads and manages military, General Schedule government and contract civilian employees in the human performance, sports medicine, wellness, and community/Family support disciplines. Oversees the world-wide development and execution of the Joint Special Operations elite Human Performance Optimization, Social and Spiritual Wellness programs. Recommend policy, organization, and operational procedures regarding management of the directorate. Advise organizational leaders and management officials of higher rank/authority on human performance and wellness programs.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret (TS) security clearance based on a T5 investigation/Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI).
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) of business travel requirement of 30% of the time, but less than 30 days per TDY to CONUS and OCONUS locations.
  • This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one-year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
