You will serve as a SAFETY AND OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH MANAGER in the I MEF Expeditionary Force, Safety Division of I MARINE EXPEDITIONARY FORCE.

Duties

You will serve as the principal safety and occupational health manager for I MEF and provide safety services to a diverse force and will plan, direct, coordinate and evaluate safety programs. You will justify operating expenditures including staffing requirements, interpret new safety and occupational health legislation and recommend the implmentation of specific policies and procedures. You will assign program activities to subordinate activities and units, evaluating safety requirements propsed for future operational requirements. You will develop program plans, policies, procedural and programmatic guidelines and methodolgies. You will administer a management information system that generates mishap, injury andillness data for the I MEF and identify hazardous conditions that require in-depth analysis and will implement measures to control or eliminate unsafe conditions. You will direct I MEF-wide safety and occupational health education and training to Safety Managers and employees in safety regulations, proactices and procedures appropriate to Marine Corps requirements. You will consult and coordinate with other agency experts in the resolution of difficult hazards and the development of safety guidance and procedures.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You are required to possess and maintain a valid state driver's license.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
  • This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Managing and coordinating safety and occupational health programs, developing safety guidelines and procedures, coordinating safety education and training programs and and ensuring compliance with safety and occupational health regulatory guidance.
