You will serve as a SUPERVISORY SAFETY AND OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SPECIALIST in the Base Safety Office of MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP PENDLETON.

Duties

You will plan, direct, assign, and review work of subordinates setting priorities and deadlines making appropriate adjustments as necessary. You will directly serve the Base Safety Center by fulfilling safety goals and objectives and carry out program requirements in close cooperation with unit supervisors throughout the base. You will address conduct issues counseling and take appropriate disciplinary action including warnings and reprimands, and refer more serious matters to superiors. You will determine training needs of assigned personnel and ensure needed training is provided. You will develop and manage assigned budgets effectively. You will select and develop training aids and other materials required for presentation of safety subjects for Base personnel.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or SECRET security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position is considered Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems. As such, may be required to relocate TAD.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: providing guidance, technical support and assistance in the implementation of the Safety and Occupational Health program.
