Duties

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY As an Emergency Management Specialist you will use your knowledge of and experience with the Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response to optimize business results and customer experience by: Serves as an Emergency Management Specialist with responsibilities for developing and implementing programs necessary for execution of all SOC activities. Acts as a "Watch Officer" on a 24/7 Watch team within HHS's Emergency Operations Center communicating with local, state, federal and international partners and emergency responders. Coordinate the exchange information and develop partnerships with communities of interest including intra and interagency operations centers. Ensure Public Health and Medical threat and Incident information is properly acquired, displayed, and archived. Participates the operations activities of the Secretary's Operations Center response coordination efforts and maintains a high level of individual readiness in preparation for Continuity of Operations during emergency situations.

Qualifications

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR A.Have at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service performing the following: Assisting in in providing emergency management support. Assisting in identifying, analyzing, and making recommendations to resolve conventional problems and situations. Applying basic principles, concepts and methodology of public health and medical emergencies with assist or supervision. OR B. Have a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related. One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study. If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours should be considered as satisfying the 1 year of full-time study requirement. OR C. Have a combination of specialized experience as described in A above and graduate level education as described in B above.
