The Staff Assistant position provides program and procedural support of projects in a comprehensive research setting, providing day-to-day support for the VA Research Program. This position will support with research office support, WOC coordination, schedule management, competency folders, personnel support, travel, timekeeping, process improvement and general research services support. The position will participate collaboratively in developing strategies for the Division to meet its goals.

You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: one year of VA research experience. OR,
Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have 1 full year of graduate level education. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. NOTE: Transcripts must be submitted with your application materials. Education cannot be credited without documentation. OR,
Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. An equivalent combination of specialized experience and education as described above may be used to meet the total qualification requirements for this position. Only education in excess of the amount required for the GS-5 level (a 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree) may be used to qualify at this level.
