You will serve as a PERSONNEL SECURITY SPECIALIST in the Security Management Office of COMMANDER US PACIFIC FLEET.
Duties
You will maintain accurate and current databases containing confidential information and personnel records.
You will determine degrees of clearance required for duty and review personnel and security files obtaining security clearance information upon which to base clearance for access to classified information.
You will provide guidance and training to personnel on completing security clearance requirements.
You will advise activity managers regarding impact of denial or revocation of clearances on their respective activities.
You will apply knowledge of laws and rules governing due process and removal of employees from sensitive positions.
You will develop and implement policies, procedures, and training methods for protecting information from unauthorized disclosure, misuse, theft or loss.
You will provide technical and administrative guidance to the command on all personnel security issues.
You will develop and implement policies and procedures for analyzing and evaluating the character, background, and history of employees.
You will manage procedures and methods used for safeguarding information, property, personnel, operations, and materials.
You will manage the automated clearance request systems or National Background Investigation System EAPP for Investigation Processing (NBIS E-APP) and the Defense Information Security Service (DISS) for Personnel Vetting Management.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC).
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- MSP/PPP applicants must currently hold the required security clearance.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: administering a security program by applying personnel security concepts and methods for the efficiency and effectiveness of established security programs and systems.

Education
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
or
3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
or
LL.M., if related
