You will serve as a QUALITY ASSURANCE SPECIALIST in the Organic Chemistry Branch (Code 134.4), Regional Materials Test Laboratory (Code 134), Quality Assurance Office (Code 130) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

You will maintain responsibility of equipment and resources in the Joint Oils Analysis Program JOAP. You will be responsible for oversight of laboratory physical property and chemical analyses of analytical testing of petroleum product lines (i.e., diesel, aviation, fuel oil), in-service lubricating oil product lines, and hydraulic fluids. You will perform method development studies to evaluate test procedures to ensure quality control parameters are met. You will serve as Senior Test Officer on lubricating oil and hydraulic system product lines for surface, submarine, expeditionary, and aircraft systems. You will review test report for test and data verifications. You will coordinate safety, security, transportation, logistics and accountability of test material and equipment in compliance with applicable regulations.

• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
• You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience applying physical sciences and JOAP quality assurance test procedures and methodologies. Experience applying lubricating and hydraulic oil product lines knowledge, as well as chemical or material principal theories and practices. Experience interpreting Navy regulations, instructions, standards and requirements of design, rework, and maintenance of aeronautical equipment. Experience evaluating quality assurance testing criteria and skill to adapt instrumentation to obtain valid results. Experience interpreting and applying product specifications, technical data, requirements, and other guideline material. Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree

or

3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree

or

LL.M., if related
or

A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
