The incumbent of this versatile position provides many different services to the Nebraska-Western Iowa Health Care System (NWIHCS) region. The incumbent falls under the Assistant Director (AsD) Department. Employee's workstation is in Omaha and provides administrative, communication and switchboard operations for the VISN 23 region.
Duties
Duties for this position include but are not limited to:
Handle all incoming calls of the 3333 emergency (internal 911) line. This encompasses the medical emergencies and police emergent matters.
Tasked with the monitoring and reporting of all alarms in the office area, including Fire Panel, 2 medical gas meters, blood bank, plasma freezer, cytogenetic freezer, morgue, elevators, main hospital back-up generators, microbiology back-up generator, and weather radios.
Operates the agency telephone system to receive and connect incoming and outgoing calls.
Composes correspondence and reports, schedules, data, and training materials. Utilizes knowledge of computer and database applications to maintain data and program information.
Tasked with daily code equipment tests to ensure the systems are up and operating, requiring knowledge of how to utilize the Vocera platform program.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm
This position provides 24/7 coverage for the facility including Holidays. Schedule may vary to ensure 24/7 coverage.

You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-04 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of this Program Support Assistant - Whole Health Program Assistant at the full performance level (GS-5), and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience includes: experience where you were responsible for providing administrative support; collecting, compiling and tracking data and information; processing documents and reports; establishing, updating and maintaining office files and records; performing automation duties using such software applications such as word processing, spreadsheet, electronic mail, desktop publishing, calendar, database and/or graphics; answering telephones, referring visitors, and providing information. NOTE: Experience must be fully documented on your resume and must include job title, duties, month and year start/end dates AND hours worked per week.. OR,
Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have completed four (4) years of education above the high school level in any field which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. OR,
Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education beyond the second year.
