About the Position: Serves as an Exercise Planning and Combat Training Center (CTC) Planning Specialist for United States Army Alaska (USARAK).
Duties
Prepares exercise documents to include planning milestones, concept and issue updates, planning tools, executive summaries, staff summaries, orders, and command briefings.
Serves as the command’s principal contact for scheduling, planning, coordinating, and supervising USARAK forces participation in all designated CTC rotations and exercises in the USINDOPACOM Theater and the Alaska Joint Operations Area of USNORTHCOM.
Coordinates with senior, lateral and subordinate headquarters, and represents USARAK at planning conferences to meet sourcing requirements for all exercises tasked by appropriate higher headquarters.
Develops exercise objectives, master scenario event lists, control plans, transportation plans, and support requirements for exercises.
Provides advice, guidance and assistance to Major Subordinate Command and Theater Enabling Command action officers and negotiates with allied and partner nation planners to ensure that the results of each exercise maximize the training of all units.
Assists in the allocation and management of all exercise funds received from higher headquarters for all Army units participating in exercises.
Demonstrates capability and knowledge of the missions and capabilities of Army forces in order to provide valid comments and recommendations to U.S., allied and partner nation Armies in the design of force lists.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes planning, coordinating, and/or evaluating of combat training center exercises and other military exercises to include integration of allied/partner forces.. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
