About the Position: Performs a variety of administrative and clerical duties in support of the Battalion Commander and staff.
Duties
Exchange facts or information needed to complete assignments.
Prepare memorandums or other written communications concerning an organization's mission.
Perform a variety of interrelated personnel support work.
Resolve complex personnel cases involving policies and/or procedures related to rewards or evaluations.
Abide by formal security policies to ensure the protection of sensitive documents and/or files.
Review and/or analyze case files involving requests for correction of personnel records.
Complete human resources tasks to support employees assigned to an organization.
Implement controls to properly secure employee records.
Apply knowledge of human resources regulations in order to examine and/or process personnel action documents.
Conduct quality control reviews to ensure the accurate processing of personnel actions.
Provide technical support to an organization regarding the development and/or execution of human resources related plans.
Coordinate adjustments to internal procedures to reduce deficiencies.
Use personnel associated software to facilitate timely or accurate data input.
Operate human resources automated systems to manage personnel records.
Utilize human resources systems to input and/or extract personnel data.
Ensure personnel adhere to policies regarding the use of human resources information systems.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) utilizing multi-line phone systems to route calls to appropriate staff members; (2) drafting correspondence in accordance with established guidelines; (3) scheduling meetings to adhere to supervisor's schedule; and (4) maintaining office files and supplies. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
