About the Position: This is a PERMANENT position as a Supervisory Police Officer with the Directorate of Emergency Services at Fort Jackson, SC.
Duties
Serves as Supervisory Police Officer, Directorate of Emergency Services.
Directs, manages, and supervises all Law Enforcement activities for the Directorate of Emergency Services through subordinate supervisors.
Supervising the planning, forecasting, and improvement of work processes for Law Enforcement operations.
Oversees employee interview process and makes recommendations to the Provost Marshal on selection of new employees and internal promotions.
Participates in overall strategic planning meetings with the installation staff, providing input and advisories as needed.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- Qualify and remain qualified for the Individual Reliability Program IAW AR 190-56.
- Meet employment security screening procedures, IAW AR 190-56, Chapter 2.
- This position requires the incumbent to undergo and pass a pre-employment and periodic/annual physical examination.
- This position requires the incumbent to meet manual dexterity, vision, and hearing test.
- This position requires that the incumbent pass an entry level Department of the Army police physical agility test; perform periodic diagnosed physical agility test and pass the annual physical agility test requirement in accordance with AR-190-56.
- This position requires the incumbent to sign a DA Form 5019 (Conditions of Employment for Certain Critical Positions under DA Drug-Free Workplace Program) and pass a pre-employment drug screening and random drug testing thereafter.
- This position requires the incumbent to work rotating shifts, overtime, weekends, nights, holidays and emergency overtime.
- This position that requires the incumbent to work in inclement weather and under extreme weather conditions.
- Wear the prescribed duty uniform IAW 190-56.
- This position requires the incumbent to wear personal protective equipment for extended periods of time as needed in accordance with 29 CFR 1910.140.
- Incumbent must possess a valid state driver's license and be able to maintain a military driver’s license.
- This position authorizes the incumbent to carry a firearm, therefore must meet all requirements of the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment of the Gun Control Act of 1968.
- Qualify and remain qualified with assigned firearms.
- This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain initial certification for radar, chemical aerosol, unarmed self defense techniques, baton handling, and standardized field sobriety testing operations.
- This position requires the incumbent to graduate from a nine(9) week U.S. Army Military Police School (USAMPS) accredited Basic Officer Academy.
- This position requires the incumbent to complete initial and bi-annual CPR certification; to receive initial first aid training, and to meet annual training and recertification.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
- This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) managing and supervising programs through the work of Patrol Operations, emergency dispatch, Intrusion Detection System monitoring, and criminal investigations; (2) supervising program work which involves long and short range planning in the areas of law enforcement, intelligence, and security functions; and (3) utilizing law enforcement intelligence, security, force protection, and law enforcement for the protection and safety of personnel and visitors. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
