This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), United States Coast Guard (USC), Deputy Commandant for Operations, Office of Emergency Management and Disaster Response (CG-OEM), All-Hazards Exercise Support Division (CG-OEM-4), Washington, DC.
Duties
As a Supervisory Emergency Management Specialist, you will be responsible for providing specialized exercise support to the USCG and other agencies for international, national, and regional all-threats/all-hazards contingency exercises.
Requirements
- Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- A one-year Supervisory Probationary Period may be required.
- This position requires a Top Secret security clearance.
- A final offer of employment is contingent upon a negative drug test result.
Qualifications
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
GS-14 - You qualify if you possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal, State, or Local government or equivalent public or private sector experience. Your resume must demonstrate that you meet ALL the specialized experience below:
Coordinating, and executing contingency exercises and preparedness training; AND
Providing leadership to others such as workgroups, teams, or special projects; AND
Conducting emergency preparedness assessments; AND
Prepares After Action Reports or corrective actions for improvement planning.
NOTE: Education cannot be substituted for experience at this grade level.
National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.
