About the Position: This position is located at the Maneuver Center of Excellence (MCOE), Fort Moore, Georgia 31905. The Maneuver Center of Excellence" is located 100 miles south of Atlanta and is adjacent to Columbus, Georgia and Phenix City, Al. The geography and climate are ideal for year round military training. Public transportation and free parking is available.

Duties

Serves as the subject matter expert for library and information services for the MCOE headquarters Library Program to include planning, implementation and coordination of all phases of library activity. Serves as subject matter expert for library automation, information systems, electronic resources and telecommunications networking. Plans, develops, and analyzes current and future resources, to include personnel, facilities, finances, information technologies, to determine actual or projected effectiveness and efficiency in achieving program objectives. Serves as the subject matter expert for library and information services for the MCOE headquarters.

Requirements

  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position may require shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
  • Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.
  • This position may have a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of up to 10% of the time.

Completion of 1 full academic year of graduate study in library science in an accredited college or university, in addition to completion of all work required for a bachelor's degree; OR B. A total of at least 5 years of a combination of college-level education, training, and experience. To qualify on this basis, the applicant must establish conclusively that the education, training, and experience provided a knowledge and understanding of the theories, principles, and techniques of professional librarianship; a knowledge of literature resources; and the knowledge and abilities essential for providing effective library and information services. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: experience providing leadership, technical guidance, training and direction to a library program which include planning, implementation and coordination of all phases of library activity; experience with library functions, including collection development, acquisitions, reference, cataloging and classification, and library automation to solve highly complex problems within the functions and to manage the regional library program. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service of GS-12. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Customer ServiceManages ResourcesOral CommunicationTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
