The primary purpose of this position is to serve as Associate Director, Air Force General Officer Management Office (AF/A1LG) responsible for all General Officer (GO) positions, assignments and other personnel actions, executive development, and issues requiring special attention at the executive level.

Duties

Works with the Director in planning, organizing, and overseeing the activities of AF/A1LG Participates with the Director in the exercise of supervisory personnel management responsibilities Program Communication. Directs the utilization of internal and external communication systems to AF/A1LG program area are publicized and customers remain informed Representing the Directorate: Establishes, maintains, and enhances contacts with SECAF/CSAF, MAJCOMs, Joint Commands, HAF/SAF two-letters, managers, action officers, and customers

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-14, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience include comprehensive knowledge of supervision and daily oversight that requires coordination and integration of complex programs that routinely involves the administrative, technical and analytical work of civilian and military personnel initiatives; and the knowledge of the policies, practices, regulations, and laws concerning civilian and military personnel management and administration as they relate to human resource management including accessions, utilization, development, sustainment, short and long-term program planning, data support, and resource management. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in­-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-14 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-15 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of the policies, practices, regulations, and laws concerning civilian and military personnel management and administration as they relate to Air Force executive human resource management including accessions, utilization, development, sustainment, short and long-term program planning, data support, and resource management Knowledge of the mission, roles, functions, organizational structures, and operation of the DOD, Air Force, and organizations that govern, interface with, and/or influence utilization of executive resources Knowledge of civilian and military personnel policies, practices, and procedures, including EEO/EOT and diversity initiatives. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices and procedures Skills in analyzing issues and formulating solutions to issues that often have very high visibility. Skills to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff to meet program and AF objective Ability to manage several priorities, many of which have SECAF/CSAF interest, and adjust workload of subordinates as needed. Ability to supervise, mentor, and motivate subordinate staff members Ability to communicate well both orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy. Ability to deal with others in situations that require utmost tact and diplomacy PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
