The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a first level supervisor, providing planning, directing, organizing, and exercising control over nonsupervisory employees assigned to the Munitions Control Center. Duties

Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of 502 LRS/LGRWSA, ensuring that Munitions Control complies with legal and regulatory requirements and meets customer needs. Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities. Advises and provides counsel to employees regarding policies, procedures, and directives of management. Represents 502 LRS/LGRW with a variety of installation and functional area organizations. Establishes, develops, and maintains effective working relationships with 502 ABW/SEW, 502 LRS/LGRDDC, 802 SFS/, 902 CES/CEF and Commercial Trucking companies.

  • Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
  • May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours and/or Shift work may be required which may include overtime and/or irregular hours.
  • Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
  • The work requires the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver’s license is required for the position.
  • Knowledge of all phases of Theatre Integrated Combat Munitions System.
  • Working knowledge of AAandE safety procedures, proper handling, management, and disposal of hazardous munitions waste and materials highly desirable.
  • This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing. (CONTINUED)

  • "This is a Supervisory Position." A 1-year supervisory probationary period is required if applicant selected has not previously met this requirement.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, General Supply Series 2001. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjusts short-term priorities, and prepares schedules. Coordinates with other organization managers and customers as appropriate. Establishes metrics and analysis systems to ensure actions are timely and reviewed at critical points. Recognizes and takes action to correct situations posing a threat to the health or safety of subordinates. Hears and resolves employee complaints and refers serious unresolved complaints to higher level management. Addresses subordinates concerns, whether perceived or real, and follows up with appropriate action to correct or eliminate tension in the workplace. Provides or ensures that subordinates provide customer guidance and training. Determines appropriate recommendations for unresolved or questionable problems and performs follow-up. Researches and determines or recommends appropriate actions or interpretation of issues that impact organization, installation, command, or agency. OR EDUCATION: Have successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B or J.D., if related, in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position, such as logistics or supply chain management. NOTE: You must submit copies of your college transcripts. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Have less than the full amount of specialized experience described in the job opportunity announcement; however, have at least one year of progressively higher-level graduate education but have not obtained a master's or equivalent graduate degree. Therefore, have a combination of experience and education. Note: You must submit a copy of your transcripts. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of a wide range of principles, processes, and techniques of trade(s) and/or craft(s) supervised and personnel management policies, practices, and procedures, including sexual harassment and Equal Employment Opportunity/ Equal Employment Treatment. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of a small to medium sized organization. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, sketches, and technical specifications. Extensive specialized knowledge of wide range of essential munitions, components, explosive safety, munitions security practices and procedures, and Theater Integrated Combat Munitions System (TICMS). PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
