The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a first level supervisor, providing planning, directing, organizing, and exercising control over nonsupervisory employees assigned to the 75 ABW Occupational Safety Office and to implement the Occupational Safety program for the 75 ABW commander.

Duties

Serve as Team Leader over a team of civilian employees. Exercise supervisory personnel management responsibilities. Advise and provide counsel to employees regarding policies, procedures, and directives of management. Represent 75 ABW Ground Safety with a variety of installation and functional area organizations

  • Travel by military and/or commercial aircraft will be required in providing staff advice to subordinate activities, field operating work, and attending conferences, boards, and meetings.
  • Work requires occasional travel away from the normal duty station.
  • Physical required: Considerable amount of standing, walking, bending, crouching, stretching and reaching.
  • Subject to Temporary Duty Assignment (TDY): Approximately 10 days per year.

Qualifications

Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least 1 year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NH-02, equivalent to the next lower grade GS-11 or equivalent in other pay systems. Specialized experience is described as: ensure and/or communicate team strategies, goals, objectives, work plans, work products, and services; communicate to co-workers the assignment, project, problem to be solved, actionable events, milestones, and/or program is being under review, and deadlines and time frames for completion; Lead or coach the team in the selection and application of appropriate problem solving methods and techniques, advise on work methods, practices and procedures, and assist the team and/or individuals in identifying the parameters of a viable solution; assist or lead others in identifying, distributing and balancing workload and task in accordance with established work flow, skill level and or occupational specialization make or assist in the adjustments to accomplish the workload. NOTE: Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Professional knowledge of engineering and technical management as demonstrated by a Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited College or University. Knowledge of Air Force and AFMC command structure, missions, programs, and organizational relationships. 2. Knowledge and mastery of advanced concepts, principles, and practices in safety engineering that enable the incumbent to serve as an expert in the full range of engineering and system engineering functions for facility/process modifications, weapon systems, and support equipment. 3. Knowledge of hazard analysis techniques, hazardous operations, engineering drawings and equipment design criteria regarding systems engineering requirements to evaluate and design safety into facility/process modifications, weapon systems, and supp rt equipment. 4. Knowledge of project management techniques and experience in weapon safety engineering project management. 5. Knowledge of weapon system sustainment issues and experience working with AFMC or other Government logistics organizations in the area of maintenance, repair, engineering support, system modification, design, and research and development. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
