This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Incumbent will service as the US Army Space and Missile Defense Command's (USASMDC) Computer Operations Information Security Manager and is the Command's authoritative source of technical information for all information security matters.

Duties

Oversees the development and implementation of procedures and systems managed and supported by USASMDC Huntsville. Conduct threat and vulnerability assessments to access risks and determine effective corrective measures. Evaluate the optimization of the functionality of networks and systems in order to diagnose failed systems.

Requirements

• This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
• This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
• This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain an Information Assurance Technical Level II (IAT-II) certification.

Basic Requirement for IT Specialist (Information Security): Specialized and Other Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting reviews of a system or application to identify threats and vulnerabilities to the system; and providing oversight on Information Technology or Cybersecurity programs such as Risk Management Framework or Information System Security Management. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower band level or grade level position in the federal service (NH-02/GS-11). The specialized experience must include, or be supplemented by, information technology related experience (paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training, as appropriate) which demonstrates each of the four competencies, as defined: (1) Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Examples of IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: completing thorough and accurate work independently, even in the most difficult or stressful situations; occasionally reviewing work completed by others.
