Duties

Receives and processes Inspector General Action Requests (IGARs) from individuals. Conduct sensitive investigations, inquiries, and special studies on a broad range of matters affecting the command, to include allegations, complaints, and requests for assistance from both military and civilian personnel. Perform inspections of designated functions, activities and programs IAW with AR 20-1, AR 1-201 and other applicable guidance. Respond to requests for assistance or information from the command IG office or other agency IG offices. Conduct case reviews, administrative reviews of IGAR process, conducts IGAR sessions, conducts sensing sessions, and presents training on assigned topics.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent must obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
  • Position requires DRUG TESTING.
  • Position requires successful graduation from the Inspector General School and maintain certification in accordance with regulation.
  • Position requires practicing of IG attributes, as mandatory requirements for continued employment as an Army IG.
  • Any serious criminal activity, to include drug use, will result in the immediate removal of an employee from the IG duty and loss of access to IGARS and IGNET.
  • Position requires database check against the Army Inspector General Action Request (IGARS) database to screen for substantiated and ongoing IG investigation.
  • Position requires up to 10% temporary duty travel. Position may require one-year probationary period.
  • Position may require one-year probationary period.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Applying Inspector General inspection techniques, analytical and evaluative methods to identify, analyze, and investigate issues and concepts for investigation and inspection; 2) Preparing investigative plans for collection and evaluation of evidence; 3) Reviewing and analyzing complex mission and functional requirements, identifying areas of operational efficiency, and developing recommendations for corrective actions in cases where functions cross many internal and external organizational lines and levels; and 4) Applying interview and interpersonal communications techniques, policies and regulations in order to analyze issues and respond to Inspector General Actions Requests, conduct investigations and inspections, coordinate corrective actions with higher management, and to present investigation findings to all levels of management. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
