Duties

The United States Space Force (USSF) at Vandenberg Space Force Base is searching for a Test Director for the 1 TES Det 1 (NH-0301-03, GS 12/13 equivalent). Description: The 1st Test and Evaluation Squadron is at the cutting edge of new Space Domain Awareness and Space Command and Control technology. If you are looking to be challenged and have the opportunity to work with members from multiple branches of the armed forces and across numerous United States Space Force units, this is the place for you. As a Test Director you will have the opportunity to directly shape future space systems through rigorous testing and evaluating to ensure future capabilities are delivered to the warfighter. You will lead an expert team(s) of subject matter experts as they ensure critical systems are designed to meet real-time needs across the space domain. Ideal Candidate: Space operations and/or Space Test experience. Program Management, Microsoft Office skills, briefing/presentation skills, and teaching/instructing experience. Key Skills and Abilities: 1. Expert Knowledge and skill in applying analytical and evaluative methods and techniques to issues or studies concerning the efficiency and effectiveness of test operations toward early development and/or improvement of critical test designs, test integration planning, and test execution of Service, Multi-Service, and Multi-National operational test events to include Tactics Development and Evaluations, Force Development Evaluations, and DOT&E Oversight tests. 2. Knowledge of DoD and space command structures, missions, programs, and organizational relationships and program goals and objectives, the sequence and timing of key operational events and milestones, and methods of evaluating the effectiveness of planning actions as related to actual events. 3. Knowledge of the various multi-agency command structures, missions, programs and entities involved in overall planning and execution of operations and evaluations. 4. Knowledge of regulatory programs, resource management and organization principles and practices including development of test plans, programming, planning and budgeting regulations, contract management guidelines and procedures, capabilities plans, and operating program policies in order to effectively manage test program requirements. 5. Ability to strategically plan, organize, and develop studies or projects, making recommendations on substantive operating programs, and negotiate effectively with others to accept and implement recommendations where the proposals involve substantial resources.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.
  • Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret / SCI clearance.
  • PCS and incentives are not available.
  • May be required to travel by military or commercial aircraft in the performance of TDY assignments.
  • May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
  • This position is eligible for situational telework, 2-4 days per pay period.
