Duties
Subject Matter Expert (SME) and technical advisor for all protocol matters and has full responsibility and delegated authority to independently plan, manage, coordinate, and carry out the requirements of the Command Protocol Program.
Analyzes and evaluates the planning of all official and social functions and events.
Evaluates, plans and coordinates with the Assistant Protocol Specialist and G3 Key Leader Engagement Specialist, for all visits of military and civilian dignitaries to the USAJFKSWCS.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Incumbent must obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
- TDY travel is occasionally required, 10%.
- Possess valid driver's license required.
- Supervisory probation period of 1 year.
- One-year probationary period may be required.
- This is an obligated position.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Planning, directing, managing, and supervising all protocol operations across the full range of protocol activities for the command. Managing and administers the overall command protocol program with full technical authority on materials and actions pertaining to protocol functions. Applying knowledge of protocol matters to include national and international roles, procedures and forms prescribing traditional and formal diplomatic customs, courtesies and etiquette for distinguished visitors. Plans and participates in the physical arrangement aspects of events that include budgeting, guest lists, invitations, menu selections, reciprocal gestures, facility/room arrangements, RSVPs, seating arrangements, place cards, name tags, proper placements of required flags, appropriate decorations and entertainment. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
