We expect to fill six vacancies at this time; however, additional positions may be filled from this announcement if they become available.
Duties
Utilizes an automated HR system to enter data (coding) to process to completion various personnel actions in accordance with laws, regulations, and agency policy.
Plans, coordinates, and establishes work-tracking systems to monitor work; coordinates with others on requirements and deadlines to assure expectations are met and work is completed satisfactorily.
Works in a professional manner with a variety of people at all organizational levels in BLM, other Federal agencies, State, and local governments, and/or private sector entities.
Displays a high level of attention to detail; is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
Expresses information effectively, skillfully, and tactfully to individuals or groups, considering the audience and nature of the information (e.g., technical, sensitive, controversial).
Reviews/proofreads correspondence and documents for clarity, completeness, and grammatical and procedural correctness before sending through the appropriate chain of command for approval.
Retrieves missing or supplemental information from multiple sources to ensure files are complete and accurate.

Qualifications

You must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower level that is equivalent in difficulty and complexity as indicated by the following examples:
For GS-05: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level GS-04 in the federal service. Specialized experience at this level is defined as but not limited to experience providing routine support tasks to a busy office setting, offering constant service and information to numerous employees and external contacts, handling human resources forms, and inputting data into a Personnel system.

Four years of education above high school (120 semester hours or 180 quarter hours) leading to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite.

Combination of Education and Experience: You may meet qualifications requirement for this position with an equivalent combination of specialized experience and appropriate undergraduate education. Undergraduate level education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position.
For GS-06: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level GS-05 in the federal service. Specialized experience at this level is defined as but not limited to experience having performed a full range of office support duties in human resources environment, processing personnel actions in a complex automated system, determining minimum qualifications, and responding to internal and external customers.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Physical Demands: The work is sedentary. Some work may require periods of standing at a counter. The incumbent frequently light items such as employee files or pamphlets. The work does not require any special physical effort.
Work Environment: Office work is performed in adequately lighted, heated, and air-conditioned offices. The work involves everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions.
