You will serve as an IT SPECIALIST (DATA MANAGEMENT) in the Information Technology and Cyber Security Department of PSNS and IMF.

Duties

You will manage database access and control backup procedures using RMAN, to ensure maximum availability of data to authorized users. You will perform installation, configuration, and maintenance of Oracle database management systems software. You will customize and install routine and emergency database patches, upgrades, and backups. You will analyze and plan for anticipated changes in data capacity and plans and execute data system implementations. You will provide guidance in analyzing database/system acceptability test results and initiating required corrective actions for any deficiencies discovered during testing.

• You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
• Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Consulting with customers in analyzing or managing database access (i.e. Oracle, WebLogic) systems or database configurations to correct problems and ensure availability of data to authorized users. Your experience must reflect skill in the following areas: attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem solving. 1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Ensure the rigorous application of information security/information assurances policies, principles, and practices in the delivery of data management services. 2. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Consul with technical staff and customers to identify and specify data requirements. 3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Serves as senior consultant to top agency officials to advise on integrating IT problems with other programs of equivalent scope and complexity. 4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Executing routine backups using RMAN and performing disaster recovery operations.
