You will serve as a GENERAL BUSINESS & INDUSTRIAL SPECIALIST in the PROJECT OFFICE DEPARTMENT of SUPERVISOR OF SHIPBUILDING BATH.

Duties

You will coordinate, monitor, and expedite the efforts of the Supervisor of Shipbuilding (SUPSHIP) office and supporting NAVSEA activities throughout the ship construction period focusing on events necessary to assure timely ship delivery. You will monitor the activities and problems confronting the shipbuilder and various SUPSHIP BATH departments by conducting regular conferences and establishing a reporting system of ship status and issues. You will establish and maintain effective communication and liaison with other process groups. You will develop and provide comprehensive and timely management reports, briefings, and presentations to the Supervisor of Shipbuilding and other activities detailing the status of technical problems, logistics support, etc. You will coordinate the accomplishment of authorized new or modified work by the contractor. You will participate in the compartment inspection process, trials, transits, drydockings and special events. You will provide coordination/guidance/assistance to the ship's force relative to crew move aboard, ship loadout and other ship/crew integration activities. You will monitor progress and provide management attention in order to assure timely correction of deficiencies by the contractor.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This position requires work onboard ships.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector monitoring shipbuilding activities to ensure compliance with contract requirements for ship construction, repair, or modernization projects.
