Duties

You will serve as the Deputy AEGIS Test Officer (DATO) of an AEGIS Test Team for the FFG 62 - Guided Missile Frigate Class Project Office at the Supervisor of Shipbuilding, Conversion and Repair (SUPSHIP), Bath, with duty at Marinette, Wisconsin. You will oversee and coordinate the management of the ship’s combat systems construction, testing, trials and delivery. You will be responsible for the functional management of the entire Test Team, including visiting civil service personnel and support contractors. You will provide mission support in the areas of production assessment, key event coordination, ship’s crew coordination and liaison, coordination of government and shipyard efforts, and support of the ATO for programmatic issue resolution. You will provide essential continuity of leadership and action in planning and executing the delivery of ships throughout the ship construction cycle. You will be responsible, in conjunction with the AEGIS Test Officer (ATO), for coordinating the overall combat system projects within the AEGIS Test Team’s work effort. You will determine and assign priorities for work within the AEGIS Test Team based on overall program requirements. You will identify and plan AEGIS Test Team tasks, establish work standards, develop and update status briefs, and publish schedules as necessary.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NH-2 broadband level (GS-11 equivalency) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Applying knowledge of industrial operations to manage the construction of naval ships. Examples of qualifying experience may include (1) general understanding of naval architecture, electrical, electronic, and mechanical engineering, and production control; (2) knowledge of the management and execution of the total ship testing concept as applied to new construction of naval surface combatant ships; (3) general knowledge of management, production control, and scheduling practices used in new ship construction.
