National Technical Information Service (NTIS) is an Agency within the Department of Commerce (DOC) that enables the public and American businesses to gain access to vital governmental information. We're looking for a Deputy Chief Information Officer (Info Security), GS-2210-15 to join our team!

Duties

This is a Deputy Chief Information Officer (Info Security) position within the Office of the Chief Information Officer for NTIS. The candidate will: Manage an IT Security Office within the Bureau with the mission and resources necessary to ensure compliance with Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA), and other information security laws, rules, and regulations. Initiate, manage, coordinate, and ensure maintenance of formal and informational documentation associated with the Bureau's IT Security Program. Oversee systems security evaluations, audits, and reviews. Establish and lead Cybersecurity Incident Response teams and is the primary Agency contact for all cybersecurity incidents. Review new or enhanced information and technology programs for privacy issues before they are implemented and shape policies, directives, and agreements for the information systems. Lead a variety of Bureau multi-disciplinary teams critical to the protection of Bureau and Departmental information assets.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements: Experience must be IT-related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate. For all positions, individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. The employing agency is responsible for identifying the specific level of proficiency required for each competency at each grade level based on the requirements of the position being filled. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IN ADDITION: Specialized Experience: To qualify for the position, applicants must possess at least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level. Specialized experience refers to experience in developing and implementing information security and information assurance strategies, policies, and procedures for a Federal Agency or a similar organization. Additionally, applicants must demonstrate their experience in reviewing, interpreting, and applying information security and privacy policies, plans, and procedures based on Federal standards, recommendations, or regulations issued by the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done. We will credit all qualifying volunteer experience in your application.
