This position is located in Department of Homeland Security, U. S. Coast Guard, Training Center Yorktown, Training Division, Prevention Branch, Marine Inspections and Investigations School in Yorktown, VA.
Duties
This position will serve as a Training Specialist. Incumbent is responsible for designing, developing, revision, and conducting courses under the Marine Inspections/Investigations School (TPII), which also includes establishing training criteria to meet organizational requirements, formulating training plans, assessing program effectiveness, and developing improved curricula. Serves as a liaison with program staff at the Office of Investigations (CG-INV) and Office of Commercial Vessel Compliance (CG-CVC).

Qualifications
Basic RequirementsEducation: Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -education or a subject area related to the position to be filled.
orSpecialized Experience: Experience that demonstrated a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include:
Teaching or instructing in an adult education program, secondary school, college, military installation, or industrial establishment in the appropriate field(s).
Supervising or administering a training program.
Development or review of training/course materials, aids, devices, etc., and evaluation of training results.
Work in the occupation or subject-matter field of the position to be filled that required training or instructing others on a regular basis.
-AND-Minimum Qualifications
Applicant must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level (in the federal service). Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
Examples of specialized experience include:
1. Experience in marine casualty investigations and vessel inspections.
2. Planning, developing, and implementing training program/curriculum establishing policy and procedures and working with curriculum committee, academic department heads, or higher-level instructors.
3. Conducting studies that evaluate and predict program achievements and student.
4. Providing classroom and field training for all related courses housed within TPII as directed.
5. Assisting in development, maintenance, and review of applicable agency aids, job aids, tactics, techniques and procedures and other identified performance support interventions.National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).
