About the Position: Serves in the Strategy, Policy and Programs Division (SPP), G5, V Corps. Conducts analysis and assessment of theater strategy, requirements, missions, and priorities against evolving US strategy, trends, guidance, policies, and resources.
This is a TERM appointment. It is time-limited and may be extended beyond six (6) years, up to eight (8) years. This position may be noncompetitively converted to career-conditional or career appointments under specific conditions.
Duties
Responsible for publication of operational concepts and plans that reflect changes in force posture strategy, policies, and guidance from V Corps
leadership and higher authorities in order to shape future Army force posture decision in Europe.
Develop recommended command positions in order to provide interim responses, and ensure staff coordinated follow-up action.
Attend internal staff meetings and conferences in order to development and implement theater posture plans and policy.
Conduct analysis and assessments of theater strategy, requirements, missions, and priorities against evolving US and NATO strategy, in order to
determine trends, guidance, policies, and resources.
Requirements
- Must be able to participate in readiness exercises.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must obtain and maintain Top Secret Clearance.
- Must complete a pre-employment drug test and accomplish random drug testing and/or drug testing.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a no-fee Special Issuance Passport (SIP), associated visa while assigned to a Federal civilian position in an
area requiring a passport, and associated visa.
- Must be able to work extended and/or other than normal duty hours, including evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime to the extent determined by the supervisor.
- Must be able to work under austere living conditions, as well as share accommodation under field conditions (containers, tents and/or barracks).
- Must be able to perform business related travel up to 60% of the time.
- Must be able to receive inoculations IAW DoD requirements for travel to specific countries.
- Must be able to travel using military transportation or non-commercial means of travel.
- This position is considered Emergency-Essential (E-E) position.

Specialized Experience: I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service which includes participating in organizational studies, knowledge of support agreements, knowledge of internal control, responsible for assisting with the development of organization requirements and authorization documents which are used to manage manpower and equipment requirements and authorizations for units and activities; and communicating both orally and in writing.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
