The primary purpose of this position is to serve as third level supervisory and managerial authorities as Deputy Director over the Communications Directorate.
Duties
Plans, organizes, and oversees the activities of the organization, ensuring that management operations comply with legal and regulatory requirements and meets customer needs.
Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities at least 25% of the time. Plans management workload to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjusts short/long term priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work.
Represents the organization with a variety of installation and functional area organizations. Establishes, develops, and maintains effective working relationships with proper offices, officials, etc.
Oversees information technology vision, strategic goals and tactical planning considering impacts to the installation's various missions.

- This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to pre-employment drug testing as a condition of employment, and participation in random drug testing.
- Employee must within 30 days of assuming this position and annually thereafter, file an OGE-450, “Confidential Financial Disclosure Report”.
- This position has been designated as a Non-Critical Acquisition Position and is covered by the Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP).
- The selectee must meet or be capable of achieving the APDP certification as designated on the position description within the defined grace period for that certification level after assignment.
- This position also requires the employee to engage in acquisition continuous learning activities achieving 80 Continuous Learning points every 24 months.
- This position is centrally managed. PCS will be paid in accordance with JTR Vol. 2 and applicable Air Force Regulations.
- This is a Supervisory Position. A 1-year supervisory probationary period is required if applicant selected has not previously met this requirement.
Qualifications
Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least 1 year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NH-03, equivalent to the next lower grade GS-13 or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience such as knowledge of maintenance business processes and their supporting data system, safety, and security regulations, practices, and procedures. Able to plan, and adjust work operations of one or more organizational segments to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources; knowledge of the operating policies and mission responsibilities and knowledge of information technology and data systems. NOTE: Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
In-depth comprehensive knowledge of maintenance business processes and their supportring data systems.
Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.
Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff of an organization through subordinate supervisors.
Ability to analyze, plan, and adjust work operations of one or more organizational segments to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Significant knowledge of the operating policies and mission responsibilities for the Command, ALC, and SC directorate, with extensive knowledge of information technology and data systems.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social).
