As a supervisor/manager, the selectee for this position will be eligible to receive a Manager Performance Incentive (MPI) provided eligibility requirements noted in agency policy are met. The MPI is an annual lump-sum incentive payment that considers agency performance, the manager's individual performance, and available funding.This position is located in the ATSAP Team-AJI-1110. This group is responsible for improving operational safety through employee safety reporting programs.
Duties
The Air Traffic Safety Action Program (ATSAP) Team Manager (TM) uses advanced knowledge of air traffic operational procedures to direct staff in the evaluation of reports received through Voluntary Safety Reporting Programs (VSRP). This data is used to identify safety concerns and issues; operational deficiencies; non-compliance with regulations; deviations from policies and procedures; and unusual safety events. The ATSAP TM directs and manages an experienced staff and oversees the work of multiple Event Review Committees (ERC) who are responsible for reviewing and analyzing reports. The information contained in the reports is used to identify actual or potential safety problems, and the ERC provides recommended solutions for those problems. This work usually includes a mixture of routine and complex processes based on information generated through the VSRP and is critical to the safety of the NAS and the flying public.

- This position is not covered by PL 92-267 for early retirement purposes, and is therefore, not eligible for "good time" credit.
- Position is ineligible for true time and one half.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the FV-J, FG/GS-14 level. This experience is typically related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been at least equivalent to the next lower level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.Specialized experience is defined as: Experience separating and controlling air traffic in a terminal/en route facility or at the Air Traffic Control System Command Center to review reported safety problems or events.Experience serving on an Event Review Committee (ERC) to serve as the focal point for information concerning the status of ATSAP reports, and for the coordination and tracking of ERC recommendations.You should include relevant examples of the specialized experience in your work history.
