About the Position: Serves as Secretary and Administrative Assistant to the Director and Deputy Director located in Fort Sam Houston, Texas.

Duties

Responsible for providing administrative guidance and support to all DoS Personnel. Reads and interprets new regulations, directives, and memorandums, pertaining to administrative matters and determines their effect on current policies and procedures. Prepares and finalizes highly sensitive personnel actions as required, maintains files for personnel action forms, instructs personnel on proper procedures for all personnel actions or requests. Maintains complete and current calendar of events for the Director and Deputy Director of the DoS. Coordinates local, CONUS and OCONUS travel arrangements for the DoS Director, Deputy Director, and staff.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent must be a qualified typist 40 wpm.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing administrative services and procedures such as maintaining supervisor's activities calendar; scheduling meetings, conferences, and video teleconferences, as required; utilizing automated system to maintain time and attendance records; making travel arrangements for staff; directing calls and visitors to appropriate office based upon knowledge of programs and operations; maintaining files and records of various types that may be needed or will assist in the efficient operation of the office AND ordering and maintaining office supplies and equipment. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Administration and ManagementClericalCustomer Service (Clerical/Technical)Written Communication Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent GS-06.
