About the Position: Serve as Secretary to the Office of the Chief of Staff, US Army South which includes the Chief of Staff, Deputy Chief of Staff and Deputy. US Army South serves as the Army Service Component Commander under US SOUTHCOM with an area of operation that encompasses 32 nations in Central/South America and the Caribbean.
Duties
Serve as primary POC for all classified message handling of secret documentation for the Command Group.
Perform executive assistance designed to relieve the Office of the Chief of Staff of as much administrative details as possible.
Coordinate local and overseas travel arrangements for the Director and Deputy Director.
Assist the Office of the Chief of Staff in synchronizing the 12 staff directorates and 11 special staff offices.
Manage the Director and Deputy Director calendars to ensure all priority appointments and meetings are met.
Perform quality reviews on all authorizations and/or settlement vouchers in an automated travel system such as DTS assuring requested
allocations are authorized and/or appropriate.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Incumbent must be a qualified typist.
- Maintain and obtain secret clearance investigation.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes coordinating administrative matters, synchronizing all staff directorates calendars; preparing travel arrangements such as transportation, lodging, airline reservations via automated system; edit all incoming and outgoing correspondence, evaluations and documents. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).

Education: One and a half years of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Management.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond one year (total semester hours minus 18) by 9. Add the two percentages.
