About the Position: This position is located with the Executive Director for Support Operations (SPO), Rock Island Arsenal, IL
Duties
Review DOD and DA transportation/logistics support policies/entitlements in order to advise senior leaders on the impact of any changes.
Serves as a Logistics Management Specialist analyzing data relating to transportation operations specifically within the Second Destination Transportation (SDT) mission.
Develop and implement procedures and practices that ensure the Army operates effectively and efficiently within the DoD and commercial systems.
Provides advice and recommendations in situations when guidelines and procedures do not exist and where there are differences of opinion and approaches among the participants within the programs.
Coordinates actions including those dealing with policy with Department of Defense (DoD), other Army Staff elements, the Joint Staff, USTRANSCOM, Office of the Secretary of Defense, (OSD) and other concerned organizations.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Position requires incumbent employee to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
- Position requires temporary duty (TDY) business travel approximately 20% of the time.

Specialized experience GS-12: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled such as: planning various logistics functions (i.e. services/operations, advanced concepts, principles/practices/regulations) to ensure integration/coordination into a complete operational program; ensure the maximum use of logistical resources (i.e. supply, maintenance, transportation, program management, plans, operations) to resolve differing logistics operation viewpoints; analyze and evaluate the effectiveness/efficiency of logistics programs/operations; applying analytical and evaluative techniques for the assessment and improvement of logistics programs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the Federal service (GS-11).
