LOCATION: This position is located in the Office of Operational HR Services, Chicago. The position is being filled on a temporary basis and this announcement may be used to fill additional unanticipated vacancies in the other locations noted within the next six months.
Duties
The incumbent serves as a technical expert in providing a variety of human resources (HR) advisory and consulting services to the Regional Commissioner and all levels of management and staff on issues related to the Federal Retirement and Employee Benefits Program, i.e., Civil Service Retirement System, Federal Employees Retirement System, Thrift Savings Plan, Federal Employees Health Benefits, Federal Employees Group Life Insurance, Workers' Compensation, Federal Long Term Care, Flexible Spending Account; and as assigned, Federal Employees Occupational Health and Wellness Programs and other employee services, including employee health and safety, employee assistance, child care, and elder care programs and initiatives.

- Fingerprinting and background and/or security investigation required

Qualifications
Specialized Experience: Applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience at the GS-12 level, or equivalent, which is in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Examples of specialized experience include: Experience providing advice and technical guidance and training to management and employees on a variety of Federal employee benefits programs, issues, and options; applying and interpreting HR policies, procedures, or regulations for employee benefit programs; communicating complex program information so managers, employees, and personnel staff can make informed decisions; and reviewing new or proposed employee benefits policies, procedures, and guidelines for impact on organizational practices.

Note: Part-time work is prorated in crediting experience (e.g., if you work 20 hours per week for a 12-month period), you will be credited with 6 months of experience.
