You will serve as a SPECIAL OPERATIONS FORCES PLANNER within HEADQUARTERS US INDO-PACIFIC COMMAND.

Duties

You will provide technical advice and administrative guidance regarding policies, procedures, and problem resolution for SOF activities. You will negotiate effectively with management to accept and implement recommendations for command positions on extremely sensitive, highly classified and vitally important capabilities. You will develop integrated Joint fires response options for the National Command Authority during crisis action planning. You will facilitate integrated Joint fires planning and operations of USINDOPACOM subordinate commands. You will work with members from all uniformed services, DOD civilians and coalition partners to develop solutions and recommendations. You will communicate the organization’s position on an issue to a broad global audience by telephone, video teleconference, and by traveling to interact personally.

• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
• This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
• You will be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.
• This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1. Planning full spectrum operations ; manned and unmanned platform operations; kinetic and non-kinetic attacks; special munition considerations; mitigation of Risk to Mission and Risk to Force. 2. Coordinating with subordinate joint forces, sub-unified commands, service components, and functional components to ensure contingency and crisis plans provide flexible Joint fires options throughout the AOR and that intelligence supports planning in accordance with USINDOPACOM priorities. 3. Managing all aspects of SOF Operations support to theater integrated fires Joint planning, to include attack coordination, target deconfliction, and command guidance for the maneuver of forces in the execution of SOF Operations. 4. Utilizing knowledge of Joint Fires planning, policies, processes and procedures along with demonstrated experience in Joint Targeting Cycle planning, execution, and assessment. 5. Applying leadership skills necessary to direct, motivate, coordinate and integrate the work of others; to keep initiatives focused; to assess the effectiveness of efforts and programs; and to adjust programs and priorities accordingly. 6. Utilizing experience with Joint Campaign, Contingency, and Crisis Action Planning processes and procedures and ability to develop and assess new policies, processes and procedures. 7. Supporting U.S. and partner nation military force structure, operational capabilities, and command and control procedures, along with a broad knowledge of strategic and political military alternatives, forces, and capabilities within the USINDOPACOM AOR.
